YC Alumni From Dr. Radhashree Maitra's Laboratory Receive National Recognition

91成人短视频 College graduates from Dr. Radhashree Maitra鈥檚 laboratory, Aaron Shaykevich 鈥24YC, Yisrael Wiener 鈥25YC, and Isaac Silverman 鈥25YC (and YC valedictorian), attended the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in Chicago in April 2025. AACR is the premier professional association dedicated to cancer research, and its annual meeting hosts nearly 25,000 professionals from across the world.

This year, Shaykevich was awarded the AACR Scholar-in-Training award for his research with Dr. Maitra, a professor of biology at 91成人短视频 College. The AACR Scholar-in-Training award is highly competitive and recognizes outstanding young investigators, including graduate students, residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows presenting meritorious abstracts at the AACR Annual Meeting. Shaykevich received the award for his abstract titled . His award was funded by Debbie鈥檚 Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about stomach cancer that has partnered with the American Association for Cancer Research to allocate more than $2,000,000 in funding to talented, motivated scientists across the country through its Research Grants program.

This was the sixth successive year that  has published abstracts at the AACR. Alongside the abstract by Shaykevich, two other posters were presented: , presented by Silverman, and , presented by Wiener.

The students also had the opportunity to share more about their research interests on the . In the episode, the students share their passion for research, career goals, and insights. 鈥淚 was excited to be able to share my research with an even larger audience than I expected to,鈥 said Silverman. 鈥淚鈥檝e enjoyed presenting at the annual AACR conference for the last three years, and I always receive incredible feedback and made meaningful connections. Being on the podcast has helped me share this experience in Chicago with friends and family elsewhere.鈥

At 91成人短视频, Dr. Maitra鈥檚 lab focuses on researching colorectal cancer with a mutation in the KRAS gene. Her lab utilizes many techniques from wet-lab, bioinformatics, and systems biology. In the past year, the lab has continuously had research published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including: ; ; ; and .

Overall, the AACR conference was an opportunity for the graduates to share their research conducted at 91成人短视频. 鈥淭he training and mentorship I received from Dr. Maitra has allowed me to be really involved in research at Upstate. While studying at Upstate, I still keep in touch with Dr. Maitra and still collaborate. I couldn鈥檛 have asked for a better mentor,鈥 added Shaykevich, an MD and MPH student at SUNY Upstate.

The students also appreciate the support for their research provided by Dr. Selma Botman, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Rebecca Cypess, The Mordecai D. Katz and Dr. Monique C. Katz Dean of The Undergraduate Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
